Abstract
Inguinal hernia surgery has the largest number of models and technical variants of all general and digestive surgery. Among them some are similar due to irrelevant changes, while others are practically the same, as it happens in two of them in the group of techniques by anterior route without mesh and with an incision of aponeurotic relaxation of the external oblique muscle. Similarity can be observed and proven between the «new» technique of Desarda (2001) and the «classic» technique of Pérez Fontana (1940s) and his disciples Broggi (1965) and Barroso (1993) amongst others. Both techniques have the same model-pattern: they obtain, in the exact same way, with a second aponeurotic incision, a band with which they reconstruct the posterior inguinal wall. After an analysis of a historiographic comparison between both techniques we conclude that Pérez Fontana was the first surgeon to design, operate and disseminate this technical model, which was later continued by Broggi and Barroso amongst others, and almost half a century later was published by Desarda as a «new» repair technique
