Resumen
Introducción: La técnica eTEP es una técnica novedosa que permite la corrección de hernias por vía laparoscópica y la colocación de una malla en el espacio retromuscular cuya disección tradicionalmente se asocia al uso del balón disector-espaciador. Material y método: Presentamos una descripción de la técnica que se ha implementado en 33 pacientes de forma consecutiva para desarrollar el espacio retrorrectal de trabajo en dicha zona anatómica sin usar el dispositivo trocar de balón, el cual es sustituido por una varilla.
Resultados: Nuestra forma de abordaje no incrementa los riesgos de accidentes y complicaciones transoperatorias y representa un coste significativamente menor con el mismo tiempo quirúrgico.
Conclusión: La técnica de la varilla para crear el espacio retrorrectal en las técnicas de hernioplastia totalmente extraperitoneal, en las manos del autor, representa un método eficiente, reutilizable y reproducible para la creación del espacio con un coste del proceso menor.

Abstract
Introduction: The eTEP technique is a minimally invasive newly developed approach that allows the repair of ventral hernias while placing a prosthetic uncoated mesh for which, traditionally, the use of a space maker balloon is associated.
Material and methods: We present the description of the technique implemented in 33 consecutive patients in which we achieve retrorectal dissection with the use of a steel rod that allows the development of such space avoiding the expense of the dissection balloon with the same results.
Results: In our dissection method we found that it does not increase the risk of accidents and intraoperative complications while maintaining the same results in dissection and saving the expense of the balloon dissector.
Conclusion: The «stick trick» technique for the dissection of the retrorectal space in the eTEP approach for ventral hernia repair in the hands of the author represents an efficient, reutilizable, and reproducible effective method to replace the use of the balloon dissector at a lower surgical cost
